The Subi Stays in 2018

Subaru KX21 will be our Engine for 2017/18.

The SKANSW Inc. committee met last night to discuss a variety of topics leading into our AGM. Full minutes of the committee meeting will be published soon.

Most importantly, we wish to confirm that we will continue to run Subaru KX21 as our engine for at least 2017/18 as per our previous press release earlier this year.

Whilst production will cease in September of 2017 from the Subaru Factory, there is plenty of stock available to continue with our favoured motor for potentially years to come.

The committee is currently investigating opportunities to secure motors into the future.

We realise, that at some point we will need to take the plunge and chose an alternative motor. We have looked at this from all angles and whilst we aren’t a business, we need to look at this as a business decison.

The committees strong stance on this matter is that the time to move to an alternative engine is not now.

In the past few months our club has undergone a growth phase and our endurance entry numbers have never been stronger. We have good equipment and a very competitive formula that still has plenty of life and potential.

Our series has never been about outright speed – it’s always been about super close cost effective and low maintenance racing. We cater for people on a budget that want to race a lot of laps beneath the safety net of Karting Australia.

We will continue to look at current engines we have & other motors but will do so away from race meetings. We extend the invitation to any members who wish to be more heavily involved in this testing process.

We are in inital talks to trial another engine shortly to assess it’s viability so that when the time does comes to change we make the very best decision for you our members.

We once again extend our invitation to all members to attend the AGM – we have plenty of good things to discuss on the evening.
